About
Assetreal
Assetreal is an independent research and advisory practice focused on strategic valuation in travel and hospitality.
Its work examines how industry structure, competitive position, business economics, capital allocation and strategic choices shape business value.
Assetreal combines company and industry research, strategic and economic analysis, financial analysis and valuation.
The practice undertakes independently initiated research, develops research-based simulations and other analytical applications, and undertakes commissioned research and advisory assignments.
Approach
Strategy and valuation are frequently treated as separate disciplines.
Assetreal’s approach is based on the view that they are inseparable.
Forecasts of growth, margins and cash flow depend on assumptions about markets, competition, reinvestment and capital allocation. Valuation therefore depends not simply on financial modelling, but on whether those underlying assumptions are economically and strategically defensible.
Assetreal’s work seeks to make those relationships explicit through strategic valuation.
Principal
The Principal’s background combines strategic economics, valuation, corporate strategy and applied business analysis, with particular depth in travel, tourism and hospitality.
His academic background includes a PhD applying machine learning and hedonic pricing models to tourism-asset valuation, with additional work in real-options analysis. He has also held full-time university research and teaching positions in travel, tourism and hospitality, with experience in postgraduate programme leadership and research supervision, and has published peer-reviewed research and a book contribution on hotel valuation.
Professional experience spans valuation and consultancy, strategic and commercial advisory, and senior management in real estate and logistics across international markets.
This combination of research, valuation practice, corporate strategy and commercial experience informs Assetreal’s approach to analysing business economics, competitive position, value drivers, capital allocation, economic returns and valuation.
